Map Attributes

When creating polygons to mark green roofs on a public map in GIS, the following data processing criteria are taken into account:

  • Green roof area: determining the size of green roofs can be an important indicator for analysis and accounting.

  • Green roof type: different green roofs can have different characteristics and care requirements. For example, they can be intensive green roofs with plenty of vegetation or extensive roofs with lighter vegetation.

  • Geographical location: marking the location of green roofs on a map will help researchers and urban planners better understand the distribution of green areas in the city.

  • Installation date: marking the installation date of green roofs can help track and analyze their development over time.

  • Features: inclusion of characteristic information about green roofs, such as type of green roof, plants used, etc., can be useful for design purposes.

  • Ecological indicators: it is important to take into account the ecological benefits of green roofs, such as reducing energy consumption, improving air and water quality and reducing the impact of microclimates on the urban environment.

  • Source of information: it is important to mention where the information on green roofs has been obtained so that users can assess their reliability and timeliness.

Taking these criteria into account will help create an informative and practical map of GIS green roofs.

Some of the information on the list cannot be obtained from open sources without interviewing the owners or designers and builders. Collecting GIS data is a long process.
